What to Expect We are looking for an aspiring Engineer to join the Tesla High Voltage Electronics Top Level Assembly Supplier Industrialization Engineering team. This team involves the entire product life cycle of several products' development with a focus on High Voltage Electronics TLA Modules. As a crucial member of the team, you will be responsible for providing Design for Six Sigma analysis, driving high precision manufacturing process development, leading supplier selections, coaching suppliers using a data‑driven approach for problem solving, ensuring on time delivery of product, solving product quality issues, and implementing corrective actions.

What You’ll Do

Conduct New Product Introduction (NPI) at suppliers, design scalable, cost, and quality manufacturing processes that involve dispensing, robotic pick and place, automated screwing process at supplier

Responsible for high voltage electronic module (such as inverters, relays) industrialization and design characterization for ease of manufacturing

Validate 2D, 3D CAD mechanical drawings, execute and embed Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) principles, collaborating with the Design Engineering team during early stages of design

Engage in tolerance stack‑up and Monte Carlo simulations to pinpoint design vulnerabilities and forecast potential production issues, relaying insights to the Design team

Steer supplier industrialization and TLA manufacturing process formulation in the Request for Quote (RFQ) stage, ensuring all aspects of process and industrialization design align with Tesla's specification

Specify Critical to Quality (CTQ) and New Unique Difficult (NUD) elements in product and process design, pushing suppliers towards robust process control

Improve supplier yield outcomes using advanced data analysis and quality tools, work with internal test, ME, EE, and REL teams (internal or external) to instigate corrective measures and enhance yield

Develop supplier quality metrics, act as technical interface with Tesla's Field Quality and Factory Quality departments to tackle Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs)

Evaluate new tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers for power electronics assembly, gauging their capabilities and facilitating integration

Lead the Production Part Approval Process at supplier prior to mass production of product

What You’ll Bring

5 years’ experience in supply chain that manages Electronics TLA preferred

Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field

Experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), tolerance stack‑up analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, and other quality tools

Solid knowledge of statistical analysis tools and applications (JMP/Minitab)

Proficient in GD&T, 3D CAD software, CATIA preferred

Previous experience in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) needed

Supplier development and management experience

Self‑motivated and able to work independently, hands‑on and ready to work in a fast‑paced environment

Domestic and international travel (expected 50% of the time) required to engage with CMs, sometimes on short notice

Expected Compensation $85,760 – $156,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
