The Tax Manager will be involved in the managing and coordinating of the day-to-day federal compliance, tax accounting, auditing, and planning operations of the company.
The Manager is responsible for coordinating the completion of federal estimated tax computations, tax returns, schedule M computations, tax depreciation and fixed asset property tax matters. They are also responsible for the workflow design and operations of the group.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the quarterly and year-end tax accounting computations reported under US GAAP to the SEC, including tax provision, deferred taxes, taxes payable and uncertain tax positions.
Review or prepare federal tax returns, estimated tax payments and related supporting computations, including schedule M computations, tax depreciation, and tax credits.
Manage Sarbanes Oxley processes related to taxes.
Work with tax and accounting colleagues, outside consultants, auditors and business teams to provide tax insight, forecasts and support projects.
Manage, monitor, assist, research, and report audit and assessments of tax authorities for the company.
Research, interpret and apply federal tax laws.
Other Duties
Special Projects - Support various special projects including due diligence for mergers and acquisitions, high level tax research, and tax accounting (FAS109).
Planning - Identify, research, analyze, and implement planning ideas with respect to tax return filing positions, worldwide organization structure, and department policies and procedures.
Optimize and document tax process work flows.
Support current implementation projects and enhancement of tax processes within multiple ERP systems
Qualifications Skills and Experience:
Working knowledge of internal revenue code
Solid understanding of GAAP as it relates to accounting for taxes (ASC 740) including exposure to purchase accounting, mergers and acquisition, international taxes
Exposure to state income tax
Ability to collaborate with top management and other key stakeholders
Strong team oriented professional
Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university in Accounting required.
Minimum 7-8 years of experience in a large corporate tax environment and/or equivalent public accounting role with experience in tax accounting, federal income taxes, and strong management experience.
Experience with Oracle and SAP
Minimum 1 year in a leadership role.
CPA preferred.
