Power BI / Power Platform Consultant – Part-Time
Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a part-time
Power BI / Power Platform consultant
to support a growing analytics program for a major government‑funded initiative. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys autonomy, can operate independently, and has strong hands‑on experience across the
Microsoft data ecosystem .
Remote position; requires Green Card holder or U.S. Citizen based in the Washington DC metro area; 15–20 hours per week.
Core Responsibilities
Build, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards, data models, and embedded report experiences
Support and optimize Power Automate flows used for data ingestion from non‑API sources
Integrate and manage datasets from multiple APIs into the Azure/Fabric data environment
Monitor and troubleshoot scheduled nightly and weekly refreshes
Implement and maintain Azure Fabric / Data Lake pipelines and structures
Apply and adjust Power BI Row‑Level Security (RLS) rules
Work directly with leadership to design new reporting features and onboard additional data sources
Act as the primary onshore BI resource until the team expands (high independence required)
Required Experience (Non‑Negotiables)
3–5+ years hands‑on with Power BI (DAX, M queries, data modeling, visuals, embedding)
Strong experience with Power Automate (building, troubleshooting, maintaining flows)
Practical experience with Azure (Fabric, Data Lake, pipeline/workspace handling)
Experience integrating data via APIs
Ability to work independently and solve problems without heavy technical oversight
Local to DC/MD/VA (must be able to attend occasional on‑site sessions in Fairfax)
Preferred Experience (Nice‑to‑Haves)
Experience working in consulting or small teams
Background supporting government or large public‑sector analytics programs
Experience scaling analytics from dozens to hundreds of data sources
Familiarity with embedded analytics portals

Part‑time: 15–20 hours per week
Mostly remote, occasional coordination onsite in Fairfax, VA
Offers $85‑95/hr compensation
