Job Summary
Senior or Principal Mammography Technologist: A CRT licensed Mammography Technologist performing screening and diagnostic breast imaging and procedures. This technologist must be able to produce ACR quality images in both diagnostic and screening exams. This technologist interacts with clinicians and other departments to coordinate patient care, evolves with radiology information system (RIS) and PACS systems, participates in performance improvement activities in the department, maintains appropriate quality control records, and participates in routine equipment testing and maintenance. Additionally, this Mammography Technologist must be willing to train and interact with students and new hires when necessary.
Principal Mammography Technologist: Responsible for having a current CRT with the State of California and a current Mammography Certification with the State of California. The Principal Technologist performs screening mammography, diagnostic mammography, breast ultrasound, and all interventional and invasive procedures in the Mammography Department, complying with all regulatory mandates for mammography.

Department Description UCSF Health's radiology department has been on the forefront of medical imaging for more than a century. In fact, a number of radiology advancements and applications were developed here. From screening and diagnosis to treatment planning and monitoring response to treatment, radiology is an essential tool in delivering effective, personalized medical care.
We offer the full spectrum of imaging techniques, using the most advanced equipment. We perform more than 600,000 imaging procedures annually.
Required Qualifications
Graduate of a formal radiology technology-training program in an AMA approved school.
Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to rotate shifts and coverage for weekends and holidays.
Must be willing to assist at any of the UCSF Medical Center Locations.
Principal Mammography Technician level requires minimum of 5 years of Mammography experience:
Requires proof of mammography — specific training of at least 40 documented hours, if certified after April 27, 1999.
Requires proof of having performed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24‑month calendar).
Requires certificates of at least 15 CEU’s in the last 36‑month period (rolling 36‑month calendar) that must include at least 6 CEU’s in each mammography modality used.
Requires proof of MQSA approved 3D Tomosynthesis training.
Senior Mammography Technician level requires minimum of 3 years of Mammography experience:
BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification.
Requires proof of mammography — specific training of at least 40 documented hours, if certified after April 27, 1999.
Requires proof of having performed at least 200 mammography exams in the last 24 months (rolling 24‑month calendar).
Requires certificates of at least 15 CEUs in Mammography in the last 36‑month period (rolling 36‑month calendar).
Requires proof of MQSA approved 8 hours each of Digital and 3D Tomosynthesis training.
Proof of initial 25 supervised mammograms.
CRT (M) Mammography Certification.
CRT (R) Radiologic Technologist Certification.
BLS Basic Life Support (CPR) Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer recent work experience in an acute care setting.
ARRT (R) (M)
Prefer breast ultrasound experience.
CRT Fluoroscopy License.
