Salary/Hours: One-time stipend of $6,000.00.
Job Summary: Manassas Park High Schools Head Football Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the varsity football team, developing student‑athletes both on and off the field, and fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and sportsmanship. This is a leadership position that requires strong communication, organizational, and mentoring skills, as well as a passion for football and youth development. In addition to leading the high school program, this role includes building a vertically aligned football program that bridges both the middle school and high school level, creating a clear pipeline that strengthens participation, fundamentals, and continuity across all grades.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and lead the varsity football program including practices, games, team meetings, and offseason conditioning.
Teach and model the values of teamwork, discipline, respect, and academic achievement.
Oversee the selection, development, and evaluation of student‑athletes; develop and implement game strategies, playbooks, and practice plans.
Supervise assistant coaches and collaborate with JV/Freshman programs to ensure continuity and player development.
Ensure compliance with VHSL rules and guidelines.
Monitor academic progress and support the academic success of all players.
Maintain equipment inventory and manage team budget and fundraising activities.
Foster positive relationships with players, families, school staff, and the broader community.
Serve as a mentor and role model for student‑athletes, promoting character development and leadership.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree required; teaching credential preferred.
Significant coaching experience at the high school level or above; experience with youth or middle school football preferred.
Demonstrated success in building or rebuilding a football program.
Strong understanding of football fundamentals, strategy, and player safety.
Ability to mentor and develop coaches at all levels.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
CPR/First Aid certification and completion of all state/district-required coaching certifications.
Must pass background and fingerprint checks.
Physical Requirements Must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with other staff and the public through the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment such as, but not limited to, a personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine. Some climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions will be required.
