Medical Technologist – Hematology
Actalent is looking for a Medical Technologist – Hematology to work on a Contract-to-Hire basis in Boston, MA.
Schedule Hours are Friday–Tuesday 11 pm–7:30 am
Job Description As a Medical Technologist, you will perform blood, urine, and body fluid tests with precision and a deep understanding of the underlying theories. You will study the morphology of blood constituents to gather data essential for diagnosing and treating diseases.
Responsibilities
Gain experience and develop working knowledge by performing routine procedures utilizing complex instrumentation and manual methods.
Ensure the accuracy, interpretation, and reporting of results with supervisor review.
Perform and maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance and quality control.
Refer problems and unusual results to appropriate personnel.
Provide clerical and support services as needed, responding to customer needs and requests.
Participate in proficiency testing of unknowns and internal and external continuing education.
Engage in continuing education programs related to laboratories.
Receive acceptable blood specimens, label specimens, log information, and separate specimens for testing.
Perform automated testing of CBC, platelet, retic and autodiff, body fluid counts, ESR, PT, PTT and fibrinogen, D‑Dimer, and urinalysis.
Perform spun hematocrits, microscopic urinalysis, WBC, CSF, and body fluid counts, joint fluid testing for crystals, and differential cell counts.
Consult with supervisory technologist and/or hematologist/pathologist regarding difficult analyses or abnormal findings.
Record test results and operate computer terminals to manage laboratory data.
Assist supervisory technologist and address hematology‑related questions.
Perform quality control procedures accurately, documenting corrective actions and maintenance logs.
Follow all safety policies and procedures, notifying supervisors of unsafe conditions, and participating in safety education and competency activities.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited college required.
ASCP Certified (preferred in hematology).
Proficient in laboratory, medical, and hematology procedures.
Knowledgeable in clinical laboratory practices and medical technology.
Job Type & Location Contract to Hire position based out of Boston, MA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00‑$45.00/hr. Benefits are subject to change; eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. If eligible, the temporary role may include the following:
