Assists patients (and parents/guardians), staff, and physicians as needed to maintain a high level of efficiency of operations and customer service while providing quality care to the designated pediatric patient population. Required Qualifications
Successful completion of LVN/LPN program. California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) – CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians – REQUIRED. AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) – American Heart Association – REQUIRED. Preferred Qualifications
1 year LVN experience in a related clinical area. Experience as a pediatric LVN highly preferred. Ambulatory care experience. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – American Heart Association – PREFERRED. Essential Functions
Customer Service : Smiles, makes eye contact, uses warm and professional tone of voice when calling patients and guardians and escorting them to the exam room. Addresses all patients by first and last name, checks for correct name pronunciation, introduces self using first name and role/title, wears name badge where visible, provides physical assistance, ensures patient comfort, returns regularly and explains delays, keeps PSR informed, refrains from discussing personal issues or patient‑related conditions, monitors voice volume, follows confidentiality policies, maintains privacy, and follows telephone etiquette protocols. Department Efficiency and Effectiveness : Monitors patient flow, physician schedules, completes daily tasks to ensure quality and meet service standards, responds to changing circumstances, prioritizes responsibilities, maintains supply levels, participates in site inspections, completes department inventories, enters authorizations in a timely manner, listens to patients/guardians, routes to physicians, returns phone calls, schedules appointments, and participates in clinical projects. Human Resource Management : Provides staff training, participates in technical and clinical services, customer service training, mock codes, serves as preceptor for new staff, collaborates with coworkers, offers feedback, attends departmental meetings, and maintains professional communication. Nursing Competencies : Successfully completes Nursing Competencies with a score of 90% or greater in each section (Great); 90% or greater on all but one section (Good); passes on retesting (Good); fails to pass more than one section (Needs Improvement). Quality Initiatives : Completes quality assurance assignments as directed and ensures overall department compliance with requirements. Technical Skills : Infection control; direct patient care and nursing tasks; physician collaboration; knowledge of child abuse signs, California law, vaccination schedules, procedure assistance, sterile technique, restraint use, comfort measures, pediatric measurements, screenings, patient/guardian education, CAIR immunization history, referral entry, and application usage. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Skills as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse, with demonstrated proficiency in clinical skill and nursing judgment.
