Position Overview Solvias is seeking two results‑driven Business Development professionals to lead growth across our analytical services portfolio, including Biologics, Cell & Gene Therapy, and Small Molecule platforms. Based in the U.S. and reporting directly to the Head of North America Sales, this high‑impact role is critical to expanding our commercial presence and maximizing revenue from key pharmaceutical and biotech accounts. The role is U.S.-based but leverages Solvias’ global operational footprint to deliver scalable, high‑quality solutions that meet complex customer needs. You’ll build and grow strategic relationships, drive new business, and support the broader U.S. sales team in executing our growth strategy. Key responsibilities include introducing new services and technologies, collaborating with scientific experts, organizing business reviews, and representing Solvias at key industry events. The ideal candidate has a strong life sciences background, a deep understanding of the drug development and BLA process, and a proven track record of revenue growth in a service‑based environment.
We’re looking for two strategic, customer‑focused communicators with 5+ years of relevant sales experience, a robust industry network, and the flexibility to travel up to 50%. We’re currently looking to add two Business Development professionals in California to join our team—one based in the Northern region to cover that territory, and another based in the Southern region to manage that area.
Job Responsibilities
Cultivate, strengthen, and expand strategic partnerships with leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies
Optimize and grow existing revenue streams through proactive account management and value‑driven solutions
Drive and support the double‑digit business growth through targeted initiatives and collaboration
Partner closely with the US sales team to align business development efforts and maximize market impact
Foster long‑term client relationships by delivering exceptional service and tailored solutions to both new and existing customers
Champion the introduction of innovative products and technologies to meet evolving customer needs
Contribute to the design and implementation of the growth strategy across key markets
Represent Solvias at conventions, fairs, roadshows, and other events to enhance brand visibility and market presence
Coordinate and facilitate technical discussions between clients and internal subject matter experts to ensure alignment and clarity
Lead and manage business review meetings to assess performance, identify opportunities, and strengthen client engagement
Conduct market and competitive analysis to inform strategic decisions and uncover emerging trends
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to align go‑to‑market strategies and customer messaging
Develop and deliver compelling business proposals and presentations tailored to client needs and objectives
Track and report key performance metrics, providing insights to leadership on business development effectiveness
Requirements
B.S. or Master’s Degree in life sciences (e.g., Biochemistry, Cell or Molecular Biology, Analytical Chemistry or related discipline). Advanced degree a plus
Minimum of 5 years experience in sales in Pharmaceutical CDMO/CRO industry required
Demonstrated leadership experience managing scientific teams and complex programs in a CRO, CDMO, cGMP, or biopharmaceutical environment required
Experience in driving revenue growth within a company providing outsourced services
Existing network in Pharma / Biotech Industry
Understanding of the drug development process and the biologics license application (BLA) process
Ability to travel up to 50% of the year domestically and internationally
Other Desired Skills/Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The maximum base salary for this role is $185,000 per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, skills, education, and location, as well as internal equity and market data.
