About the Role Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer is the principal’s most trusted senior executive and oversees all financial, legal, and operational matters for a $10B+ ultra‑high‑net‑worth family office.
This role carries enterprise‑wide responsibility across the family’s personal balance sheet, investment platforms, operating companies, real assets, trusts, and philanthropic structures. The position requires exceptional financial sophistication, legal fluency, operational leadership, and absolute discretion.
The successful candidate will operate as a true fiduciary partner to the principal, coordinating complex, multi‑jurisdictional structures while ensuring institutional‑grade governance, risk management, and long‑term capital preservation and growth.
This is a hands‑on, in‑person role in Miami, requiring daily engagement with the principal, senior advisors, and external counterparties.
Core Responsibilities
Provide full financial oversight across all family entities, including personal holdings, operating companies, investment vehicles, trusts, and foundations.
Prepare and oversee consolidated financial reporting, balance sheets, cash‑flow forecasts, capital calls, and investment performance analytics.
Lead liquidity management and capital allocation across public and private markets, real estate, private equity, venture capital, and opportunistic investments.
Serve as primary relationship manager with banks, custodians, asset managers, lenders, and investment partners globally.
Coordinate and optimize tax strategy, structuring, and compliance in collaboration with external tax advisors and accounting firms.
Advise the principal on long‑term financial strategy, risk exposure, leverage, and intergenerational planning.
Legal, Governance & Risk Management
Oversee all legal structures, including trusts, holding companies, SPVs, foundations, and cross‑border entities.
Review, draft, and negotiate contracts, operating agreements, shareholder agreements, financing documents, and transaction materials.
Act as internal lead on real estate transactions, private investments, M&A activity, and strategic partnerships.
Coordinate closely with external legal counsel (U.S. and international) on estate planning, tax law, regulatory matters, and dispute resolution.
Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and international regulations, including AML, KYC, and reporting obligations.
Design and maintain a robust governance, control, and risk‑management framework consistent with best‑in‑class institutional standards.
Operations & Family Office Management
Act as the central operating executive, ensuring seamless day‑to‑day functioning of the family office.
Build, oversee, and mentor internal teams across finance, administration, and external service providers.
Implement best‑practice controls, systems, cybersecurity, data security, and internal policies.
Serve as the primary interface between the principal and all external advisors (legal, tax, investment, banking, philanthropy).
Oversee philanthropic initiatives and private foundations, ensuring compliance, impact alignment, and proper governance.
Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding all personal, financial, and strategic matters of the family.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Law, Business, or related field.
Advanced degree required: MBA, JD, CPA, or equivalent.
12–15+ years of senior‑level experience in family offices, private equity, hedge funds, investment management, law firms, or complex multi‑entity environments.
Demonstrated expertise in:
UHNW financial structuring
Investment operations & reporting
Tax optimization and estate planning
Corporate governance & legal risk
Multi‑jurisdictional entity management
Proven ability to operate as a trusted advisor to a principal with significant assets and complexity.
Exceptional judgment, emotional intelligence, and discretion.
Experience in or strong familiarity with the Miami financial and legal ecosystem is preferred.
