Overview We are partnering with a leading Electrical Contracting firm in their search for a Senior Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement activities for electrical materials, equipment, and services critical to data center projects. This role ensures timely, cost‑effective sourcing to support high‑volume, fast‑track builds while maintaining operational excellence and compliance with industry standards.

The Senior Purchasing Manager will drive supplier strategy, negotiate high‑value contracts, and manage inventory control for mission‑critical components, collaborating closely with project managers and field teams to meet aggressive schedules and uphold quality benchmarks essential for data center environments.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Procurement:

Develop and implement purchasing strategies for electrical components, tools, and services tailored to data center construction, optimizing cost, quality, and delivery performance.

Centralized Procurement Alignment:

Standardize procurement processes across multiple locations, establishing the first centralized purchasing function for large‑scale data center projects.

Supplier Management:

Identify and maintain relationships with key suppliers specializing in data center‑grade electrical systems; negotiate favorable terms and ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.

Budget & Cost Control:

Manage purchasing budgets, monitor spend, and deliver cost‑saving initiatives without compromising uptime or project timelines.

Inventory Oversight:

Maintain accurate inventory levels for critical electrical materials to prevent shortages and ensure readiness for rapid deployment in data center builds.

Project Coordination:

Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to forecast material requirements, align procurement schedules, and resolve supply chain issues promptly.

Compliance & Documentation:

Ensure adherence to company policies, safety regulations, and contractual obligations; maintain accurate purchasing records and reporting for mission‑critical projects.

Market Analysis:

Track industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging technologies in electrical/data center infrastructure to inform purchasing decisions and maintain competitive advantage.

Team Leadership:

Supervise and mentor purchasing staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Experience:

7+ years in procurement or purchasing management within electrical contracting or construction industries; data center project experience strongly preferred.

Skills:

Strong negotiation, leadership, and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple fast‑paced projects and deadlines.

Technical Knowledge:

Familiarity with electrical materials (transformers, switchgear, etc.), codes, and specifications for mission‑critical environments; proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or related field; professional certifications (CPP, CPSM) preferred.
