Director of Nursing This role directs all day‑to‑day operations of the Nursing/Health Services Department and staff to ensure the delivery of high‑quality general and psychiatric nursing care to patients in treatment of chemical dependency, substance use disorder, addiction recovery, mental health and behavioral health.

Base pay range $125,000.00/yr - $145,000.00/yr

Responsibilities

Defines and maintains the standards of nursing practices.

Assesses the quality of care rendered.

Initiates the development of policies and procedures that govern nursing services, ensuring they are current and reflect regulatory standards.

Responsible for staff performance, recruitment, retention and development for all nursing/health services personnel.

Collaborates with other departments and agencies regarding resources and services for improved patient care and staff development.

Serves as a key member of the facility’s core management team and ensures effective integration of nursing services into overall operations.

Oversees nursing staffing levels within the facility on all shifts to ensure quality patient care.

Collaborates with the Infection Control Nurse to incorporate infection control policies and procedures.

Oversees the pharmacy and laboratory services.

Oversees the facility’s patient rights program and ensures all patients are treated with respect and dignity.

Ensures departmental budgetary guidelines are maintained and monitors expenditures for nursing supplies, equipment, and materials.

Provides direct nursing services, including:

Completes appropriate documents within the required timeframe after admission, maintaining accurate medical records.

Administers medications as indicated and monitors detoxification processes.

Transcribes Physician orders and implements all Medical Protocols as ordered.

Conveys information to and assists medical personnel, both internal and external resources.

Documents services for each patient in accordance with licensure standards.

Assesses the medical and psychiatric needs of patients, determining urgency and expediting treatment as needed.

Communicates patient health concerns to appropriate personnel and follows up as necessary.

Educates patients about medications, health issues and medical conditions.

Documents verbal orders from the medical provider accurately and professionally.

Participates in facility meetings as required.

Stays abreast of nursing care issues, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Participates in training and developmental activities to enhance professional skills.

Attends in‑service training and other educational activities as required.

Actively participates and adheres to regulatory, licensing and accreditation standards.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Five (5) years’ experience in nursing with emphasis in psychiatric and substance abuse

Registered Nurse in the state of licensure, active and in good standing required

CPR Certification required

Experience in nursing leadership within a residential or inpatient treatment environment
