ICU Pod (CVICU, CCU, SCIU, ICU) + Stepdown (4AB) Position Overview
The facility is seeking a highly skilled
CVICU RN
with recent experience caring for
fresh open-heart patients . This is a
high-acuity ICU environment
requiring a strong critical care background, the ability to float within the ICU pod, and the flexibility to support other units when needed. Fresh open-heart experience must be
within the last 12 months . Required Experience
2+ years ICU experience
in a high-acuity environment Must have
recent fresh open-heart experience
(within 12 months) Must be comfortable with:
IABP (Balloon Pump) CRRT
No first-time travelers Must be well-rounded in
medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU
care Must be willing to float between:
CVICU CCU SCIU General ICU Stepdown (4AB) May float to
ED to task
Shift & Scheduling
12-hour shifts:
0645–1845 or 1845–0645 Every other weekend
required No block scheduling Assigned a
primary unit
but will float based on census Cancellation allowance:
12 hours every 2 weeks Patient Population
Fresh open hearts (1:1) Post CV surgery & vascular procedures Sepsis, DKA, pneumonia, ARDS, MODS CRRT patients IABP patients Mixed medical, surgical, and cardiac ICU Staffing & Support
Intensivist + NP on units during days Nights: NP in-house, Intensivist on call PICC team available Techs for ADLs, I/O, fingersticks Each unit has dedicated charge nurse Monitors in every room + central monitoring Equipment & Drips
Draeger ventilators Standard ICU drips CRRT machines (experience preferred but not required) Balloon pump (IABP) Certifications Required
BLS (AHA) ACLS (AHA) NIHSS Additional stroke or cardiac certifications preferred Additional Requirements
Must be flexible and able to integrate with core staff Must present patients during interdisciplinary rounds Uniform:
Forest green or white pants; white top
