Job Description The Tax Senior, Transfer Pricing is responsible for conducting transfer pricing studies, preparing tax accrual work papers, and participating in tax planning and risk communication. The role involves gathering client information, preparing tax returns, and managing client engagements.
Job Duties
Transfer Pricing Studies
Conduct studies during planning, documentation, audit defense, and compliance stages.
Scope, design, and perform financial analysis of intercompany transactions, benchmarking, and pricing policies.
Complete supplemental financial analysis: market penetration scenarios, intangible valuation, loan/guarantee/insurance analyses.
Plan, schedule, and execute transfer pricing analyses under guidance of STS Senior Director or Manager.
Manage deadlines and data due dates for projects.
Use databases (Compustat, Amadeus, ktMINE, Edgar, 10‑K Wizard, Bloomberg, Lexis‑Nexis, etc.).
Prepare compliance reports and consulting presentations; summarize findings.
Participate in scoping calls and draft proposals and engagement letters.
Present analysis results to clients and promote service capabilities.
Conduct client interviews to gather information on corporate structure, functional responsibilities, risk distribution, value drivers, industry competitiveness, and historical context.
Review benchmarking work completed by Transfer Pricing Associates.
Tax Controversy
Apply knowledge of audit, competency authority, and APA processes.
Prepare IDR responses and assist clients in developing audit arguments.
Tax Provision and FIN 48
Apply transfer pricing in tax provision analyses under ASC 740‑10.
Draft memos for ASC 740‑10 analyses.
Collaborate with Core Tax and STS Groups; develop deep knowledge of tax issues.
Maintain visibility in local offices and region – networking with core tax and assurance managers.
Other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise day‑to‑day workload of Transfer Pricing Associates and Interns; review work product.
Ensure Associates and Interns receive training on relevant tax software.
Provide guidance on complex concepts and tasks; deliver performance feedback and evaluations.
Act as mentor; monitor budgets and billings to manage profitability.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or related field (required).
Advanced degree preferred.
Experience
More than 2 years of professional tax experience (required).
Experience in a transfer pricing practice (required).
Prior supervisory experience preferred.
Experience reviewing tax provisions from a transfer pricing perspective preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong analytical and research skills.
Solid organizational skills; ability to meet project deadlines.
Ability to multi‑task independently or in a team.
Capability to work in a deadline‑driven environment with multiple projects.
Capacity to build and maintain client relationships.
Intermediate understanding of advanced tax issues and general calculations.
Experience across multiple industries.
Software Proficiency
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
Exposure to S&P Compustat, Moody’s RiskCalc, 10‑K Wizard, ktMINE, and other financial database products preferred.
Salary Range National: $73,500 – $131,250 (annual)
