The City of Harrisonburg (pop. approximately 56,879) is a thriving, multicultural university city in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. The Parks and Recreation Department, with about 84 full‑time employees and a $9.372 million budget, provides services across Recreation, Athletics, Aquatics, Golf, Facilities, Maintenance, and Administration.

Position Overview Exempt, full‑time role with benefits and an anticipated annual salary range of $105,955 - $119,204. The Park Director will report directly to the Director of Parks and Recreation and work closely with team members in cultural programming, special events, and recreation center operations.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the director on the Capital Improvement Program, operating budget development, and master plans for parks and facilities.

Assist with long‑range planning and contribute to citywide projects as part of the Deputy Leadership Team.

Leverage expertise in recreation administration and facility operations in a diverse community.

Support the Department’s mission to build places people love and programs that strengthen community.
