KPMG is currently seeking a Managing Director and Associate General Counsel, Lead Audit Counsel to join our Office of the General Counsel.

Responsibilities

Serve as a primary OGC contact for leadership of the Audit and Assurance Practice on legal and regulatory matters relating to the provision of professional services; advise the other two professional service functions of KPMG (Tax and Advisory) regarding similar matters as needed, including the resolution of potential disputes

Organize the work of Practice Advisory Group to support the Audit and Assurance Practice

Stay current on legal and regulatory developments impacting the audit profession and advise the Audit and Assurance Practice of such developments

Support the development of comment letters and guidance for Audit and Assurance Practice

Qualifications

Minimum of at least 15 years of experience in well-regarded law firm(s), government agencies, or in‑house legal department; JD or LLM from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the U.S., including in the state in which his/her office is located

Deep experience with civil litigation and regulatory investigations relating to the audits of public and private companies and advising and counseling the profession on legal and regulatory matters, including through the provision of training; knowledge of securities laws, rules and regulations, including those that relate to the audit profession also required

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines with consistently high‑quality deliverables and results; strategic thinking in sensitive and complex situations and the highest ethical standards, integrity, authenticity, credibility and character

Demonstrated collaboration skills, including building strong business partnerships and working within cross‑functional teams; client‑service orientation with the ability to create effective working relationships cross‑functionally

Leadership skills and ability to navigate ambiguity and influence stakeholders; high emotional intelligence to manage relationships across the team and the broader organizations, resolve conflicts, manage change and understand needs and motivations of both senior leaders and team members

Ability to be proactive in identifying potential challenges, opportunities for enhancement and innovation, including by leveraging technology

California Salary Range: $402,000 - $880,000
