Job Summary
The Invasive Cardiovascular "Cardiac Catheterization" Labs, aka Cardiac Cath Lab, are specialized invasive procedure rooms where diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral‑vascular procedures are performed under fluoroscopy on patients from neonate through geriatrics. The Cardiovascular Technician (CVT) is an integral part of the invasive team and is responsible for monitoring and safe use of all radiological equipment. In addition, the CVT works in the OR Hybrid Suite to assist with CVT duties outlined in this position description. The ideal incumbent has experience or strong knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring equipment used for cardiovascular procedures in both the Cardiac Catheterization and OR settings. Duties include invasive hemodynamic monitoring and recording pre/post procedure preparation including patient transport as required, digital imaging processing, assistance with inventory control and supply management/usage, and assists in maintaining a safe work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
ACLS Certification within 3 months of hire
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
High School Diploma or GED or equivalent work experience or training
2 years recent Cath Lab Tech with scrub experience
Knowledge and ability to operate radiology (RT only) and auxiliary equipment for assigned modality to provide quality images.
Knowledge of processor maintenance and imaging techniques.
Must be able to adapt to new programs and equipment upgrades as the radiological field advances.
Knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology.
Skills to work accurately and quickly under pressure.
Judgment skills to be able to make independent clinical decisions within scope of practice.
Set priorities, organize work independently for self and others.
Knowledge and recognition of pressure waveforms and ECG analysis.
Knowledge of laboratory supplies and their location.
Teach safety practices and equipment operational practices.
Participate in establishing policies and procedures; participate in ongoing CQI program.
Provide orientation and instruction to new cath lab staff; teach fellows, nursing students and visitors.
Willing and able to work in a cooperative fashion with other staff members.
Knowledge and skills to comply with AORN standards.
Ability to work over‑time as required.
Ability to meet 30 minute emergency call‑back/on‑call requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification is preferred or the candidate must be eligible for and pass the RCIS exam within 1 year from the date of employment.
Valid California Radiologist Technologist License strongly preferred.
Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technician Program.
