Overview Lead NCAA's data strategy in partnership with the CTO, developing and executing a comprehensive data, analytics, and AI roadmap that aligns with the organization’s mission and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Work with CTO and senior executives to define long‑term roadmaps for data, analytics, and AI initiatives.
Build, lead, and inspire a high‑performing, cross‑functional team of directors, data engineers, data scientists, machine learning engineers, BI analysts, and AI specialists.
Oversee the design and implementation of scalable data architectures, cloud data warehouses, and integration platforms.
Establish and enforce enterprise‑wide data governance policies, data quality standards, and security controls in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations.
Develop, deploy, and continually improve machine‑learning models and AI‑driven solutions using tools such as TensorFlow, Python, and scikit‑learn.
Translate complex data insights into actionable strategies that enhance NCAA’s operations and competitive advantage.
Lead and manage capital projects to implement cutting‑edge data capabilities, ensuring on‑time, on‑budget delivery.
Oversee application‑managed services (AMS) to provide robust support across all internal data functions.
Collaborate with product, program, and business units to understand and meet their data requirements.
Communicate complex technical strategies to non‑technical stakeholders and senior leadership.
Foster a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous learning while prioritizing initiatives to maximize the impact of data and AI investments.
Technical Skills & Expertise
Data Architecture & Engineering – experience with Snowflake, Informatica, Databricks, and building ETL/ELT pipelines.
Data Governance & Security – knowledge of governance frameworks, master data management, and regulatory compliance.
Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning – proficiency in Python, TensorFlow, scikit‑learn, and deploying AI‑driven solutions.
Cloud & Integration Technologies – experience with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, and integration tools.
Job Requirements
Advanced degree (Master’s) strongly preferred; bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field acceptable.
Minimum eight years of progressive IT leadership experience with exposure to data architecture, analytics, AI, governance, and security.
10+ years of experience preferred.
Proven track record managing cross‑functional data initiatives and capital projects that deliver measurable business impact.
Exceptional leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences, including non‑technical executives.
Demonstrated success in managing large IT budgets and making strategic technology investments.
Estimated travel:
Position based at NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Indiana; hybrid: 3 days in‑office, 2 days remote.
