Job Summary The Department of Radiology is a 24‑hour, seven day a week operation providing imaging services for adult and pediatric inpatients and outpatients. The MR Radiologic Technologist provides technical knowledge and/or coordinates the delivery of MRI services. Under the direction of a qualified physician, this position will operate a variety of equipment including high field strength magnets and support systems with MRI safety as a priority.

Responsibilities

Patient coordination, acquisition, processing, and archiving of all patient data.

Training new staff as well as existing staff on new technologies.

Maintaining and operating equipment according to manufacturer’s specifications, reporting all problems appropriately.

Overseeing provision of MRI services and staffing coverage in the absence of the MR Supervisor.

Complying with department protocols, UCSF policies and procedures, and other applicable work rules and regulations.

Acting with initiative and responsibility to achieve maximum radiographic quality and handling all duties in a calm manner even in stressful situations.

Interacting with Radiologist, Clinicians, and peers in a cooperative, harmonious manner for maximum effectiveness.

Required Qualifications

ARRT approved MRI Certification for Sr. Tech level.

ARRT approved MRI Certification within six months of hire for new grads.

BLS Certification.

Venipuncture Certification.

Graduate of a formal radiology technology training program from an AMA approved school.

Minimum 3 years of experience with high field magnetic resonance system (Sr. Tech) with competency in 3 of the 6 specialty scans: Cardiac Imaging, Fetal Imaging, Whole body Pediatric scans, Special procedures (HIFU/DBS etc.), Pediatric/Adult Anesthesia, Breast Imaging.

Minimum 1 year training experience with high field magnetic resonance system (Staff Tech) able to perform Neuro Studies, MSK Studies, Abdominal Imaging, Pediatric Imaging, Chest Imaging (Non Cardiac).

Flexibility in scheduling, ability to rotate shifts as well as coverage for weekends and holidays.

Flexibility to rotate to other sites when necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Recent work experience in an acute care setting.

CRT Licensure.

MRSO.

License/Certification

Venipuncture Certification.
