Unit Mission The mission of the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery of the Department of Surgery is the advancement of science through research and the training of undergraduate and graduate students in our discipline. The Division provides clinical and research experiences that help faculty advance their professional careers and serves the university community.
Position Purpose This collateral, non‑tenure track faculty position focuses on clinical and academic responsibilities in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The faculty member will develop an academic practice, support teaching at VCU Medical Center, and assist in research and service.
Responsibilities
Teaching: oversee resident clinics and provide education in all areas of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Research: establish clinical research projects with medical students and residents to evaluate evidence‑based practice outcomes.
Service: serve on departmental and hospital committees and participate in regional and national professional organizations.
Clinical: provide care for Plastic and Reconstructive patients on the MCV campus of VCU and at community facilities, and develop an active surgical practice.
Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Commitment to resident education and teaching.
Commitment to clinical research and innovation.
Fellowship training in microsurgery or hand surgery.
Demonstrated ability to foster an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility with faculty, staff, and students.
