Summary Vitreoretinal Surgeon Wanted for Established Practice in Maryland. LifeBridge Health’s Krieger Eye Institute (KEI) has over 80 years of focus on the eyes of Baltimore. This team of 12 highly trained ophthalmologists, who have earned the Baltimore Magazine Top Doc award many times, works alongside nine resident physicians in the ACGME‑accredited ophthalmology residency program. LifeBridge Health’s Sinai Hospital is a regional medical campus for the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Sinai faculty who teach their medical students will have faculty appointments at GW.

Qualifications

MD or DO from an accredited medical school

Board certified or board eligible in ophthalmology

Vitreoretinal surgery fellowship is required

Ability to successfully obtain Maryland medical license without restrictions

Current DEA certificate and CDS license and BLS and ACLS certifications

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment

Opportunity

Full‑time employed faculty position for Vitreoretinal Surgeon

Location: Krieger Eye Institute at Sinai Hospital, Baltimore, MD and KEI at Quarry Lake in Baltimore County

Outpatient position with outpatient surgery and surgical block time

A great blend of 90% clinical work and 10% teaching, creating lectures for residents and administrative work

Reward of mentoring residents, working with them on research and other projects

Manage a diverse patient population

Very manageable patient load with a large degree of autonomy (typically 15 patients per session, 30 per day)

Robust, supportive, and well‑trained office staff with technical support from certified ophthalmic technicians as well as administrative support – currently 50 support staff members

Weekdays with regular business hours

Call schedule: Infrequent nights and weekends (about 6 weeks per year). Junior and senior residents take primary call and contact faculty member on call if necessary (generally for surgical procedures)

State‑of‑the‑art onsite testing devices – Optos, ophthalmic angiograms, visual field testing, OCT testing, and many other ophthalmic tests

Patient‑centric practice that works collaboratively in clinic and with sub‑specialties to minimize multiple patient visits
