Primary Purpose

The AME is responsible for the reliability of substations, including:

Electrical grid equipment

Building infrastructure such as plumbing, roofs, and masonry

Security systems like perimeter fencing, badge readers, and cameras

Vegetation management and related security issues

Distribution Underground, Distribution Overhead, Transmission Overhead and Underground - when applicable

The position may require extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other delivery emergencies.

Primary Duties The AME acts as the eyes and ears for Equipment Specialists and relays field information to support equipment issues.

The AME works with Project Management to identify potential project problems during walk downs and conference calls.

The AME collaborates with Transmission & Substation Engineering for service requests, projects, and other concerns at the station.

The AME works closely with SC FLS, SC crew leaders, TG, and other departments that routinely work in the substation.

Job Scope

External Affairs/Governmental Affairs – follow up on aldermanic complaints

LCS – follow up on customer issues

Facilities – related to substation responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering. Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems; apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory; knowledge of engineering designs, principles and practices.

Zero to two years of professional engineering experience.

Limited knowledge and experience with regulations, guides, standards, codes, methods, and practices necessary to perform routine assignments for a specific discipline installation or service.

Preferred Qualifications Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.

Annual salary: $71,200 – $97,900 per year, based on skills, qualifications, and experience.
