Transmission & Distribution Engineering
Perform structural and line design analysis using PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Caisson.
Serve as a subject‑matter expert for modeling and analysis across transmission and distribution systems.
Review and design pole foundations for new and existing installations.
Maintain and update engineering design specifications, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
Project Development & Research
Support development of new engineering projects based on data collection, research, and analysis.
Present new ideas to improve engineering processes and business efficiency.
Analyze data for strategic decision‑making in new and ongoing engineering initiatives.
Field Support & Emergency Response
Support construction teams by resolving design‑related issues.
Conduct field inspections as needed.
Assist with emergency restoration efforts related to wildfires, storms, or other system incidents.
Quality & Safety Oversight
Oversee QA/QC engineering processes to ensure quality, safety, and reliability.
Ensure compliance with:
California GO95
NESC
ASCE codes and engineering standards
Leadership & Mentorship
Provide technical leadership and guidance to SCE's transmission engineering practice.
Mentor less experienced engineers in design methods, tools, and best practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
California Civil PE License (required).
7+ years of technical experience in transmission and/or distribution line engineering.
Strong experience with California utility engineering standards including GO95, NESC, and ASCE.
Proficiency with:
PLS-CADD
PLS-Pole
AutoCAD
Preferred / Nice‑to‑Have
Experience with:
PLS-Caisson
SPIDAcalc
Experience supporting utility emergency response (storms, wildfire restoration).
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional utility teams.
