Seeking an advanced-level Senior Engineer V specializing in Transmission Line Structural Engineering with deep expertise in PLS Tower, Lattice Tower structures, and Load Calculations. This role leads complex structural engineering tasks for new and existing transmission line projects while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and safety across system-wide engineering activities.
This hybrid role requires at least 2 days per week onsite (Wednesday & Thursday).

Key Responsibilities Transmission Line Structural Engineering
Lead all structural engineering activities for lattice towers (structure + foundation) on complex transmission line projects.
Serve as subject matter expert in PLS Tower analysis, modeling, and review for new and existing lattice towers.
Perform structural load calculations based on NESC, California GO95, ASCE standards, and project-specific requirements.
Design and review transmission line foundations including:
Drilled concrete shafts
Direct embed foundations
Micro piles
Grillage foundations
Utilize FAD Tools, hand calculations, and similar programs for foundation evaluation.
Project Development & Engineering Analysis
Lead structural engineering analysis for new project development based on research, data collection, and technical evaluation.
Prepare and present engineering recommendations and project improvement ideas.
Ensure all engineering work complies with internal SCE standards and regulatory guidelines.
Construction Support & Emergency Restoration
Coordinate with construction and field teams to resolve design or structural issues.
Support emergency restoration activities for wildfires, storms, and system incidents.
Perform field inspections as required.
Reporting, Documentation & QA/QC
Prepare engineering mitigation reports for damaged lattice towers or footings.
Ensure compliance with SCE QA/QC processes, safety policies, and engineering specifications.
Leadership & Stakeholder Collaboration
Mentor junior engineers and provide leadership to SCE's transmission engineering practice.
Build effective working relationships with cross‑functional stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
California Civil PE License required (Structural preferred).
Minimum 7 years of transmission line engineering experience.
Expertise with:
PLS Tower (required)
PLS‑CADD
FAD Tools
Strong knowledge of California engineering standards including GO95, NESC, ASCE.
Demonstrated experience performing transmission load calculations.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have
Experience with:
PLS‑Caisson
SPIDAcalc
Experience in emergency restoration support (storms, wildfires).
Experience collaborating with utility construction, engineering, and operations teams.
