Essential Functions

Provides security to assure the safety and well‑being of their YRS Site’s participants/staff during their work shift.

Completes a minimum of 2 Interior and Exterior Security Perimeter Checks per shift, each including a thorough review of all vehicles.

Remains current with any/all SmarterU and ADP LMS Online Training and with Dual In – Person/Online trainings, including Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training annually and CPR/First Aid Training biennially.

Assists their YRS Directors/PMs with updating YRS Site’s Emergency Plans and conducting Emergency Drills, and scanning them in for CARF Quality Review when requested.

Completes Daily Staff Communications (DSCs), listing at least one activity per hour of every workday, sent daily via photo or weekly scanned and emailed to HHCS Manager of Physical Security and Incident Response.

Always carries a charged walkie‑talkie during the shift.

Assists in ensuring the interior of the YRS Site is safe for all participants/staff during a protest, regardless of location.

Completes other safety and security related duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or equivalent General Education Diploma.

Minimum 2 years of experience in security or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications / Licenses

A valid driver's license is encouraged, but not required.

A Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Responsibility (IDFPR).

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Excellent communication skills; strong networker, convener, relationship builder and communicator collaborating with diverse teams and stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information and process it professionally and diplomatically.

High degree of collaboration, emotional intelligence, self‑motivation, and analytical ability.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows OS, and other common software.

Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.

Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.

Strategic thinking and consultancy skills.

Work Arrangement This role is not eligible for remote work. All hours will be worked in person with an active presence at all assigned programs on a rotating basis.

Work Environment

The noise level is usually moderate.

Each program site operates 24/7, 365 days per year; employees must be flexible in scheduling and location.

Program sites are located throughout the Chicago area, including the North and South sides and suburbs; employees may be required to report to any one of these locations temporarily or permanently.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crawl.

Frequently use hands to key, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds.

Must be able to use CPI techniques with participants if needed.

Requires close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus vision.
