Essential Functions
Provide security to assure the safety and well‑being of YRS Site participants and staff during their work shift.
Complete a minimum of two interior and exterior security perimeter checks per shift, including thorough vehicle review.
Maintain current training with SmarterU, ADP LMS, CPI Training, and CPR/First Aid Training.
Assist YRS Directors/PMs with updating emergency plans, running drills, and scanning drill documentation for CARF reviews.
Complete daily staff communications, documenting activities each hour.
Always carry a charged walkie‑talkie during the shift.
Ensure the interior of YRS sites is safe during protests.
Perform other safety and security duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum two years of security experience or equivalent education/experience.
Certifications/Licenses
A valid driver’s license is encouraged but not required.
Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Responsibility (IDFPR).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships with diverse teams.
Confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive information.
Collaboration, emotional intelligence, self‑motivation, and analytical ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, Outlook/Exchange, Windows, and related software.
Problem‑solving skills in varied situations.
Interpretation of written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions.
Strategic partnership and consultancy skills.
Work Arrangement This role is an in‑person position only.
Work Environment
Moderate noise level.
Program sites operate 24/7, 365 days a year; flexibility is essential.
Sites located on both the North and South sides of Chicago; duties may require travel.
Physical Demands
Primarily talking and hearing; sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, and crawling as needed.
Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
Ability to perform CPI techniques with participants.
Vision: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.
