Job Description And Duties The California Air Resources Board (CARB) is seeking a motivated, team‑oriented Staff Services Manager I (SSMI) to oversee the Monitoring and Laboratory Division’s (MLD) Division Support Section (DSS). The incumbent will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the work of five staff within the DSS, who provide analytical support services in the areas of health and safety, facilities and space planning, fleet, asset management, budgets and acquisitions, and records management. The SSMI will also have oversight of the MLD stockroom and shipping and receiving warehouse supporting the Division’s ambient air monitoring network, analytical laboratories, and the instrument repair laboratory. The incumbent will be responsible for a full range of administrative activities, exercise a high degree of initiative and independence, and possess extensive knowledge of State administrative procedures. The SSMI has primary management oversight for and provides leadership, direction, and supervision to the staff within the DSS. The incumbent is responsible for working with their management team within the branch to establish and enforce policies, plan and manage budgets, contracts, equipment, and staff resources to ensure effective and efficient operation of the section.
