Vaco has partnered with a client in the legal industry in Chicago to fill a Billing Specialist position. This role requires one year of experience and supports a client-focused environment, ensuring accurate and timely billing while maintaining system integrity.
Job type: full time
Pay: $32.97/hour – $41.21/hour (based on experience, education, and skill level)
Expected hours: 38-40 hours per week
Physical setting: office
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Experience: At least one year of general accounting or billing experience; legal billing and electronic billing experience preferred
Work location: In office for first 90 days; then hybrid schedule
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and edit client pre-bills
Ensure accuracy and timely distribution of final invoices
Process write-offs and write-downs with appropriate approvals
Maintain accurate billing system data
Respond to attorney inquiries regarding bills and billing procedures
Follow established billing cycles and cut-off deadlines
Ensure compliance with internal billing policies
Work independently while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines
Assist with basic financial analysis, including reviewing client billing histories
Requirements
Associate’s degree in accounting, business, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum of one year of general accounting or legal billing experience; legal billing and electronic billing experience preferred
Experience with specialized accounting or billing software preferred
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Proficiency in spreadsheet applications, including Excel
High attention to detail and strong numerical aptitude
