Compensation:

$23-$25 per hour, Full-Time non-exempt, commensurate with experience. Program And Position Summary The Mission SRO Collaborative works to improve living conditions and empower tenants in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels in the Mission District of San Francisco. Program components include outreach, tenant stabilization services, and community programs – including educational and leadership development workshops on topics such as fire prevention, disaster preparedness, tenant rights, and housing justice issues. The Collaborative is comprised of Mission Action as the lead agency and fiscal agent, and includes Causa Justa, Just Cause, the Mission Neighborhood Resource Center, and the Women's Community Clinic as partner agencies.

The Tenant Rights Program Assistant is responsible for providing general administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient MSROC operations. The position assists the Program Manager through a variety of tasks related to organization and communication. Additionally, the Program Assistant will work directly with tenant leaders to support their organizing and campaign work.

Key Responsibilities

Support program with administrative work, such as making flyers, inputting data, and organizing outreach and training materials

Prepare and organize tenant events and holiday parties

Support team with coordination, preparation, and facilitation of monthly tenant meetings

Contact tenant leaders for meetings and events

Conduct outreach in SROs in the Mission

Support and lead tenant volunteer phonebank and outreach shifts

Other Organizational Duties

Conduct business in accordance with the Mission Action Employee Handbook, exercising sound judgment and serving the best interests of the agency and the community.

Commit yourself to treating each community member with respect and dignity.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds including multiply‑diagnosed low‑income populations, people who are marginally housed, LGBTQ individuals, people of color and persons with disabilities

Willingness to work flexible hours and weekends

Commitment to social justice issues, and familiarity with MSROC and DSCS mission and organizational work

Excellent time management skills and ability to multi‑task and prioritize work, required; administrative or assistant experience, preferred

Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Bilingual Spanish/English, spoken and written preferred

Basic computer knowledge, ability to use Windows and Microsoft Office

Knowledge of or ability to be trained on database software
