Electrical Engineer

On behalf of my client, a leading federal contractor supporting VA Medical Centers nationwide, I am recruiting an experienced Electrical Engineer to support construction, renovation, and infrastructure upgrade projects across the Department of Veterans Affairs.
This role provides technical oversight across design, procurement, construction, and post‑construction phases, with a strong emphasis on electrical systems, code compliance, and contract administration.
Key Responsibilities
Support pre‑design and design‑phase electrical evaluations
Review and provide recommendations on drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
Perform technical assessments and validate contractor work quality
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA, IBC, VA design standards, and federal requirements
Support procurement, construction‑phase oversight, and closeout activities
Conduct occasional onsite field visits for inspections and verification
Provide electrical expertise for power distribution, lighting, emergency power, HVAC controls, telecom, and low‑voltage systems
Maintain construction documentation, project tracking, and reporting
Qualifications
Ability to pass a federal background check and obtain a VA PIV badge
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
Professional Engineer (PE) license (required)
Minimum 6 years of combined electrical design and construction experience
Experience with healthcare, VA facilities, or federal environments preferred
Strong knowledge of building codes, life safety systems, and construction best practices
Skilled in reviewing scopes of work, cost evaluations, and contractor compliance
Proficient in construction management software and general office applications
