Job Description Summary All resources, and logistics required to perform services and maintenance activities on customers' site/property. These activities contribute to maintain, repair and refurbish sold or existing products. Includes all types of maintenance service (preventive and remedial), manages maintenance facilities and field services engineering. Impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning and execution. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required but this is typically with guidance.
Job Description Roles and Responsibilities
Provide technical direction and guidance to craft labor in support of a power equipment outage
Develop in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy.
In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
A job at this level is likely to be an individual contributor with proven interpersonal skills or an early people leader who can hire and develop talent. Provides informal guidance to new team members.
Required Qualifications
Ability and willingness to travel up to 80% of the time
Industrial automation, Electrical, or electronic engineering degree from an accredited university or college (or a High School Diploma / GED and a minimum of 4 years of industry experience)
4 years of field engineering experience in power generation, industrial plant automation, distributed, PLC (programmable logic controller) or similar industry sectors.
Ability to troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems at all levels, from field devices to control system, and networking
Must be able to generate immediate credibility with customers, suppliers, GE project management / engineering communities.
Strong customer focus, interpersonal and computer skills
Ability to multi-task in a dynamic, geographically dispersed team environment is required.
Effective written and oral communication skills with excellent spoken and written English skills.
Customer-focused skills, demonstrated by experience in field services, customer services or project management, are essential.
Desired Characteristics
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Established project management skills.
Previous industrial field service experience.
Controls experience to equipment that functions as a "prime mover".
Electronics and/or mechanical trouble shooting skills. "Hands-on approach".
Computer skills, familiarity with MS Office, TCP/IP configuration.
Prior mechanical / maintenance experience preferred.
Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.

Benefits Salary range: between $78,800.00 and $131,200.00 (U.S. based). The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
