Job Overview From strategy to execution, the Government & Public Sector practice of Ernst & Young LLP provides a full range of consulting and audit services to help our State, Local and Education (SLED) clients implement new ideas to achieve their mission outcomes. Opportunity Our Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing exponentially. As a Senior Manager, you’ll play a key role in that growth across all Federal GPS sector service lines, communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally.

Your Key Responsibilities

Actively pursue business development activities, implementing strategies and tactical steps within and outside EY, identifying opportunities and developing proposal responses.

Train staff and execute engagement deliverables simultaneously, thinking on your feet and challenging existing practices to develop answers to complex issues.

Collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, building relationships and identifying opportunities for clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas.

Travel regularly to meet key clients.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with advisory client personnel, assessing client satisfaction and proactively maintaining contact throughout the year.

Direct field work, inform supervisors of the advisory engagement status and manage assurance staff performance.

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (e.g., GASB), budgetary reporting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations.

Provide performance feedback, training and performance reviews for assurance staff.

Foster an efficient, innovative and team‑oriented work environment.

Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with assurance team members and enhance service delivery.

Develop an understanding of EY’s service lines and actively seek/encourage assurance team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to apply the firm’s services.

To Qualify For the Role You Must Have

U.S. CPA license in your work state.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business discipline, supported by 10 years of post‑college work experience conducting financial audit and providing financial reporting advisory support to SLED clients in a fast‑paced environment.

In‑depth understanding of application and implementation of U.S. Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, Financial and Single Audit (Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance) and OMB guidance.

Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in preparing and auditing Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Report for SLED entities.

Proficiency in modified‑accrual basis of reporting, grants management and budgetary reporting.

Hands‑on experience with business development in the SLED space, including leading multiple proposals in the past year.

Experience with large regional or national NFP client is a plus.

Excellent project‑management skills.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management.

Proven record of excellence when managing, mentoring and improving a team of high‑performing colleagues.

Dedication to teamwork and leadership.

Integrity within a professional environment.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher.

Travel flexibility up to 30% for federal practice and up to 80% for state, local and education practice.

Ideally You’ll Also Have

CGFM and/or CDFM designation.

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package with base salary range $146,700 to $335,100 in the U.S.; higher ranges for specific metro areas.
