Our Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing, and as a Senior Manager you will play a key role in that growth. Working across all Federal GPS sector service lines, you will develop your career by communicating creative, strategic goals both internally and externally, listening to and understanding our clients, and delivering a truly exceptional experience. Your Key Responsibilities
Actively pursue business development activities, develop proposal responses, train staff, and execute engagement deliverables. Think on your feet, challenge existing practices, and develop answers to complex issues. Collaborate with colleagues across multiple service lines, build relationships, and identify opportunities for clients to benefit from our knowledge in other areas. Travel regularly to meet key clients. Skills and Attributes for Success
Develop and maintain strong, productive working relationships with advisory client personnel. Direct field work and inform supervisors of the advisory engagement status. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting, budgetary reporting, and auditing concepts. Develop people through effectively delegating audit tasks and providing guidance to assurance staff. Provide performance feedback, training, and performance reviews for assurance staff. Contribute ideas and opinions to assurance teams and listen/respond to other assurance team members’ views. Foster an efficient, innovative, and team‑oriented work environment. Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with assurance team members, and enhance service delivery. Understand EY’s service lines and actively seek and encourage assurance team members to contribute ideas and identify opportunities to apply the firm’s services. To Qualify for the Role
U.S. CPA license in your work state. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business and 10+ years of post‑college work experience in financial audit and advisory support to SLED clients. In‑depth knowledge of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, and OMB guidance. Comprehensive experience preparing and auditing Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports, Annual Financial Statements, and Single Audits for SLED entities. Proficiency in modified‑accrual reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting. Hands‑on business development experience in the SLED space, with a proven record of leading multiple proposals. Experience with large regional or national not‑for‑profit clients is a plus. Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills. Leadership, teamwork, and integrity within a professional environment. Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret clearance or higher. Travel up to 30% is preferred for the federal practice; up to 80% is preferred for state, local, and education practice. Ideally You’ll also Have
