The opportunity Our Government & Public Sector Financial Accounting Advisory Services (GPS FAAS) team is growing exponentially, and as a Senior Manager you’ll play a key role in that growth.

Your Key Responsibilities The nature of this role means no two projects will be the same. Your role as a SLED service line Senior Manager will include, but not be limited to:

Actively pursuing business‑development activities (implementing strategies and tactical steps within and outside EY) to identify opportunities;

Developing proposal responses, training staff, and executing engagement deliverables simultaneously;

Thinking on your feet and challenging existing practices to develop answers to complex issues;

Collaborating with colleagues across multiple service lines to build relationships and identify client opportunities beyond our core knowledge;

Providing regular travel to meet key clients where required.

Skills and Attributes for Success

Build and maintain strong, productive relationships with advisory client personnel, assess client satisfaction and maintain proactive contact throughout the year;

Direct field work and inform supervisors of advisory engagement status while managing assurance staff performance;

Demonstrate a thorough understanding of complex governmental accounting (GASB), budgetary reporting and auditing concepts and apply them to client situations;

Develop people through effective delegation of audit tasks, providing guidance to assurance staff and performance feedback;

Contribute ideas and opinions to assurance teams and listen/respond to other team members' viewpoints;

Foster an efficient, innovative, team‑oriented work environment using technology for continuous learning and knowledge sharing;

Actively seek and encourage assurance team members to apply EY’s service lines and generate new opportunities.

To qualify for the role you must have

U.S. CPA license in your work state;

A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or a related business discipline supported by 10 years of post‑college experience in financial audit and reporting advisory for SLED clients in a fast‑paced environment;

In‑depth understanding of US Governmental GAAP, GASB standards, the Financial and Single Audit (Subpart F of the OMB Uniform Guidance) and OMB guidance;

Comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in preparation and auditing of Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR), Annual Financial Statements and Single Audit Reports for SLED entities;

Proficiency in modified‑accrual reporting, grants management, and budgetary reporting;

Hands‑on business‑development experience in the SLED space, including lead experience on multiple proposals within the last year;

Experience with large regional or national not‑for‑profit clients is a plus;

Excellent project‑management, communication, negotiation and collaborative management skills;

A proven record of excellence in managing, mentoring and improving a high‑performing team;

Dedication to teamwork and leadership, and integrity within a professional environment;

Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance or higher;

Flexibility to travel up to 30 % for federal practice roles or up to 80 % for state, local and education practice roles, as required.

Ideally you’ll also have

CGFM and/or CDFM credentials.

A comprehensive compensation and benefits package, with a base salary range of $146,700 to $335,100 across the U.S., and higher ranges in major metro areas (e.g., New York City, Washington state, California);;
