Project Manager – Heavy Civil Construction

Responsibilities Project Oversight & Execution
Manage all phases of the construction project lifecycle
Execute project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation
Ensure construction activities adhere to timelines and specifications
Conduct routine site visits to review progress and oversee field operations
Financial Management
Manage all contract financials (fees, expenses, rental equipment, etc.)
Responsibility for overall project profitability and identifying profit opportunities
Approve invoices, payroll hours, and oversee billing processes
Contract, Compliance & Documentation
Handle correspondence between contractor and subcontractors
Respond to RFIs, process Change Orders, and ensure compliance with contract specifications
Submit budget proposals and draft revisions when necessary
Deliver project reports, documentation, and presentations
Team Leadership & Client Relations
Work closely with Superintendent(s) to manage project scope and risks
Develop, build, and maintain strong client relationships
Provide direction and oversight to project engineers, field engineers, and project coordinators
Manage crises and devise contingency plans when needed
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent training/experience
Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Engineer on heavy civil projects ($5M-$30M) including:
Concrete structures
Roadways & bridges
Dirt excavation
Minimum 2 years of experience supervising or managing junior project engineers
5+ years reading and interpreting blueprints & specifications for heavy civil projects
5+ years experience responding to customer inquiries, regulatory agency questions, and community interactions
5+ years RFIs, Change Orders, and Submittals experience
Skills & Technical Competencies
Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, and draw logical conclusions
Ability to lead teams in high‑pressure construction environments
Strong communication, scheduling, and conflict‑resolution skills
Ability to travel as needed (often)
