The Senior Staff Accountant will directly support the Director of Finance and Accounting in a wide range of financial duties including payroll processing, accounts payable, general ledger reconciliations, and month-end close out procedures. Essential Responsibilities

Lead and manage all aspects of bi-weekly payroll and benefits administration for multi-state Oversee the timesheet process and train new employees on payroll system Prepare payroll journal entries and reconcile payroll-related accounts Prepare 403B retirement contribution calculations and upload to the system Serve as the finance lead for the 403(b) retirement plan; prepare all required support Ensure all payroll tax returns are timely filed and resolve federal, state, and local tax compliance Manage workers’ compensation insurance plans and annual compliance Prepare allocation journal entries for cell phone and internet stipends Perform all accounts payable functions; review check requests and invoices; ensure reasonableness and proper documentation Follow up on outstanding purchase requests and vendor invoices Review and process credit memos and voided items Follow up on outstanding checks Prepare month-end accrual and prepaid reconciliations Manage and process corporate credit cards and upload into accounting system Review and process employee expense reports, reimbursements, and cash advances Follow-up on unsubmitted expense reports with staff and supervisors Lead in the preparation of internal transfers for allowability of incurred costs and accurate allocations Prepare IRS Forms 1099, verifying accuracy and submitting the forms Respond to vendor and staff inquiries Support the accounting team in month-end closings and financial reporting Apply accounting principles and practices following standardized, well-established procedures Ensure the effectiveness of internal controls and streamline processes through improvement and automation Essential Skills & Experience

Minimum of 5 years’ experience with all aspects of payroll processing for 100+ employees Minimum of 2 years’ experience in nonprofit accounting performing accounts payable, G/L entries, reconciliations, and month-end close Minimum of 1 year’ experience using Sage Intacct Experience processing expenses in Concur is a plus Strong competency in Microsoft Word and Outlook Strong work ethic, detail-oriented, and able to perform tasks accurately and on time Motivated self-starter with minimal supervision Ability to self-review work product and troubleshoot accounting discrepancies Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain utmost confidentiality of sensitive information Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field required Compensation & Benefits

This position’s salary is estimated to be mid $70,000s to mid $90,000s depending on experience, location, budget, and other comparable internal roles. While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is frequently required to use a computer keyboard and read a computer screen. The role may require long periods of sitting, repetitive motions, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision for data preparation and analysis.
