Vice President of Business Development – Hospice The Vice President of Business Development for Hospice is responsible for leading the strategic planning and execution of growth initiatives within the hospice sector. This role involves identifying new business opportunities, forging strong relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth through innovative strategies and partnerships. The VP of Business Development for Hospice will collaborate with senior leadership to align business development efforts with the company's overall objectives and ensure sustainable growth.

Essential Functions:

Strategic Planning and Execution:

Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy to drive growth in the hospice sector.

Identify and evaluate new market opportunities and potential areas for expansion.

Set monthly, quarterly and annual growth targets and ensure alignment with overall company goals.

Create and implement the sales funnel management strategy for Hospice.

Market Analysis and Research:

Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, competitive landscape, and potential business opportunities.

Analyze data to inform strategic decisions and optimize business development initiatives.

Relationship Management:

Build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders including Market Presidents, Area Directors of Sales and Operations and executive teams to ensure growth budgets are achieved while maximizing collaboration and teamwork.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including healthcare providers, physicians, and strategic partners.

Team Leadership and Development:

Lead and mentor the Area Sales Directors, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.

Assist the Market Presidents in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training the Area Sales Directors.

Collaborate with the Market Presidents to assess development opportunities with Area Sales Directors and implement coaching and development plans.

Lead and foster a culture of accountability throughout the organization.

Collaboration and Communication:

Plan and execute a daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly cadence of sales funnel management and communication with the sales team and Site Directors.

Work closely with senior leadership, VP of Business Development for Home Health, executive team and other department heads, to ensure cohesive and aligned business development efforts.

Communicate progress, challenges, and successes to stakeholders through regular reports and presentations.

Collaborate with Market Presidents and the executive team to develop and manage the business development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.

Monitor financial performance and adjust strategies as needed to achieve revenue and profitability targets.

Additional Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned.

Participates actively in continuing education and in‑services.

Maintains confidentiality of patient information and business trade practices.

Assumes accountability for reporting incidents and complaints according to Agency policy.

Willingness to travel frequently as required.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

Advanced communication skills (verbal and written)

Organizational skills

Ability to supervise in accordance with agency’s policies and applicable laws

Advanced math skills

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets and billing software

Proven track record of successfully driving business growth and achieving revenue targets

Strong understanding of the hospice market, including regulatory requirements and industry trends

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to think strategically and execute tactically

Demonstrated leadership and team‑building skills

Information Management:

Treats all information and data within the scope of the position with appropriate confidentiality and security.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred

Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the hospice or healthcare industry.

License / Certification: Driver’s license and proof of current auto liability insurance; no listing in the OIG Excluded Provider listing.

Environmental Conditions:

Works under a variety of conditions in facilities and offices; promoting efficient functioning and coordination of agency activities to ensure the highest level of professional patient care. Ability to work flexible schedule, ability to travel locally, some exposure to unpleasant weather. Moderate noise level; inherent potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens; moderate stress and emotional demands.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged sitting is required. Requires ability to always handle stressful situations in a calm and courteous manner. Requiring working under some stressful conditions to meet deadlines and agency needs. Must be able to travel via car and/or plane.
