Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
The Senior Construction Accountant is responsible for performing a wide range of accounting activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. This role maintains the general ledger, prepares month‑end journal entries, performs account reconciliations, analyzes financial results, and supports various accounting functions including accounts receivable, payroll, audits, and tax compliance. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work both independently and collaboratively to support the Controller/CFO.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and post month‑end journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and other adjustments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
Maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, ensuring completeness and accuracy of all entries.
Prepare monthly variance reports with thorough analysis of actual results vs. budget.
Reconcile all subsidiary ledgers and supporting schedules to the trial balance.
Prepare monthly cash‑related journal entries and account reconciliations.
Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and management reports.
Review financial variances and provide clear explanations to management.
Assist with developing custom reports and analyzing job cost reports as needed.
Maintain fixed asset schedules and ensure accurate recording of depreciation.
Record inventory adjustments resulting from periodic physical inventory counts.
Review Sales & Use tax compliance and assist with related filings or inquiries.
Assist with oversight of the Accounts Receivable function to ensure accurate posting and reporting of activity.
Assist with Payroll oversight and related reconciliations.
Prepare and enter monthly journal entries related to company benefit plans.
Assist in compiling supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Support the development, maintenance, and improvement of accounting policies and procedures.
Perform special projects and additional tasks as assigned by the Controller or CFO.
