This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for DoD Prevention Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position:
The Supervisory Prevention Specialist (Prevention Lead) (Prevention Workforce) serves as the Senior Commander's expert on prevention science and data-driven recommendations to improve the prevention system, address harmful behaviors, and create protective military communities. Duties
Serve as the Supervisory Prevention Specialist (Prevention Lead) (Prevention Workforce) for the Integrated Prevention Advisory Group (I-PAG) at the Corps or equivalent level. Advise senior leaders on how to address risk factors and develop protective factors, and how to act across the multiple levels of the Social Ecological Model (SEM). Advise senior leaders on primary prevention activities and the public health approach to preventing harmful behaviors. Coordinate, organize, implement, analyze, and integrate comprehensive primary prevention efforts through coalitions within and outside the military community and in accordance with relevant DoD and Army-level policy, laws, and regulations. Work with subordinates and other prevention partners to develop the prevention system (i.e., human resources, collaborative relationships, and infrastructure) and execute each step of the prevention process. Responsible for development of a comprehensive integrated primary prevention plan for the military community. Conduct and interpret needs assessments and complex analysis of existing integrated primary prevention capability and resource issues and assess factors that inhibit planning, implementation, and evaluation and document appropriately. Use a wide variety of public health tools and data science, statistical, and/or analytical techniques and processes to inform integrated primary prevention activities. Coordinate and monitor implementation of primary prevention activities and evaluations with varying degrees of sophistication in methodology. Supervise a multi-disciplinary team of integrated primary prevention staff members. Requirements
Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 15% of the time. This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one-year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed. Incumbent must obtain and maintain Level 5 DoD Credentialing Program for Prevention Personnel (D-CPPP). Incumbent must complete DoD SPARX Knowledge Parts 1 and 2 within 6 months of employment. Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Tier 3 clearance.
