This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

About the Position This position is located in Fort Bragg, NC.

Duties

Serve as a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic engaged in performing a variety of repairs, maintenance, adjustments, modifications, inspections, and preventive maintenance on equipment, systems and facilities.

Serve as operator and repairman in charge of the facility utility plant with shift responsibility on a regular and recurring basis.

Repair, troubleshoot, maintain and install heating, ventilation and air‑conditioning equipment and auxiliary mechanisms.

Install, repair and maintain a complex plumbing system to include welding gases; compressed air and vacuum systems; domestic hot and cold‑water piping and hot water circulating systems.

Work on industrial electronic and mechanical systems with highly complex electronic sensing and controls.

Perform minor preventive maintenance type repairs to asphalt floor tile, including conductive vinyl floors in operating suite.

Test electrical and electronic circuitry and devices for compliance with current code requirements of electrical leakage.

Requirements

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.

This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top‑Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.

This position requires the completion of a pre‑employment physical examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.

This position is subject to a pre‑employment drug screening and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on‑duty accident.

The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles.

This position has a requirement to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

This position may require shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays or special situations.

Required to obtain and maintain an Environment Protection Act (EPA) certification at the universal level.

This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer.

Position performs duties away from home station, pre‑deployment out processing and OCONUS deployments.

On Call status is required.

Appointment to this position is subject to a one‑year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.

This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
