Description Summary The Relief Nutrition & Dietetic Tech works closely with the Clinical Dietitian and multidisciplinary team to provide patient care that aligns with the medical goals and objectives. The position is onsite and supports the patient‑centered mission of Stanford Health Care.
What You Will Do
Abide by all Joint Commission requirements and C‑I‑CARE Standards, ensuring culturally sensitive, ethical, and quality patient care.
Perform comprehensive nutrition screening to identify nutritional risk for each patient.
Conduct thorough assessment of oral intakes through calorie counts, historical data, and anthropometric measurements.
Develop patient care plans with goals that respect age, population, cultural, religious, and ethnic considerations.
Provide menu assistance and assistance with implementation of nutrition care plan interventions according to prescribed diet order, allergies, and personal preferences.
Act as liaison between Clinical Nutrition, Food Service, and Nursing Units, communicating information and participating in problem‑solving.
Monitor, evaluate, and document patient nutrition‑related outcomes using standardized indicators.
Coordinate or delegate nutrition plan of care with other healthcare professionals as needed.
Perform administrative duties such as triaging phone calls, faxing, scheduling appointments, and managing charge capture procedures.
Conduct in‑services and educational presentations to staff; participate in community projects as assigned.
Participate in orientation and training of new Dietetic Technicians and Interns, providing instruction and feedback.
Maintain productivity standards, accurate record‑keeping, and cost‑effective resource management.
Perform additional related duties as requested or directed.
Education Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Associate’s Degree in dietetics, nutrition, or related field preferred.
Completion of a didactic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Accreditation Council for Education and Dietetics preferred.
Experience Qualifications
One (1) year of work experience as a Dietetic Technician or related profession preferred.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
Knowledge and application of nutrition services and basic medical nutrition therapy.
General knowledge of electronic medical records, nutrient analysis, word processing, and spreadsheet software.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to accomplish assigned work within time constraints.
Effective communication skills in written, verbal, and electronic form to patients, staff, and physicians.
Independence in performing assigned patient care units and/or outpatient clinics.
Ability to counsel and educate others.
Critical thinking to integrate facts, informed opinions, active listening, and observations.
Decision‑making, problem‑solving, and collaboration.
Licenses and Certifications
DTR – Dietetic Technician preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions Blood Borne Pathogens
Category II – Tasks that involve NO exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues; employment may require performing unplanned Category I tasks.

Base Pay Scale Generally starting at $41.68 – $54.19 per hour. Final salary will be based on internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
