26-27 Founding Director of School Operations – KIPP Miami Public Schools KIPP Miami is part of the KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) national nonprofit network of college-preparatory, public charter schools educating elementary, middle and high school students. KIPP has a 25-year track record of preparing students for success in college and life. Opening with an inaugural ninth-grade class in school year 2026-2027 and growing to serve grades 9–12, KIPP Miami Tech will provide students with the academic foundation, professional skills, and real-world experiences necessary to excel in college or career pathways. KIPP Miami Tech will offer three specialized career academies: Business, Commercial & Digital Arts, and Technology. Students will be able to graduate with a high school diploma, college credits, industry-recognized credentials, and hands-on experience. Job Description

The Director of School Operations is the school's leader of operations. The DSO manages and is responsible for all non-instructional systems and staff allocated to the school and is required to be on-site daily. Responsibilities
People Management: Manage the school operations staff and all other school support team members on the operations team Implement and execute a performance management system for direct reports Conduct weekly individual meetings and team meetings Provide professional development Finance and Purchasing: Develop and manage the school’s budget Conduct monthly financial review meetings with each school leader, highlighting the budget to actual performance year to date and a forecast for the year Make budget management recommendations to SL so that resources are allocated according to the school’s mission and vision Manage all aspects of day-to-day financial operations in compliance with fiscal policies & procedures Oversee purchasing for the school Execute compensation changes and stipend assignments, and requests Audit the monthly compensation reports Attendance: Ensure strong attendance processes and systems are in place and intervene as necessary to ensure that ADA goals are met Ensure that 100% of absent students receive a call daily Oversee the attendance intervention and truancy process to address attendance concerns Coordinate with the student support team and school leadership to address chronic absenteeism Provide coaching, accountability and feedback on weekly attendance meetings with leadership team members Academic Support Operations: Manage the operational logistics of all student test administration, in coordination with school leadership and/or teaching staff Student Recruitment / Enrollment: Meet annual enrollment targets by backwards planning from target enrollment numbers and dates, plan events and outreach to families, establish partnerships with local businesses and organizations, ensure 100% enrollment on the first day of school, ensure 100% completion of registration documents by the first day of school, implement systems and training for school-based staff to support recruitment and enrollment efforts, and coordinate family engagement events and school tours Implements processes to prevent student attrition and manages accountability for family follow-ups Monitor enrollment metrics and adjust practices based on data In partnership with the region, manages social media content for the school Technology: Oversee day-to-day operations of school-based technology projects; manage tier 1 responses in the technology ticketing system; plan technology-related enhancements for the following school year Event Planning: Serve as the logistics and events planning expert at the school; drive events such as report card conferences, field trips, student celebrations and family engagement events Community Partnership: Provide point of contact and support for wrap-around services, development and advocacy efforts, and other community partnership work; manage after-school programs and clubs; pilot initiatives to track family engagement and feedback Compliance: Ensure school-wide compliance with health and safety laws; onboarding requirements for new staff; comply with city/state education mandates and all federal/state workplace regulations School Operations: Ensure day-to-day school operating systems run smoothly and efficiently (front office, transportation, routines, transitions, arrival/dismissal); collaborate with leadership to meet safety requirements; ensure emergency protocols and safety plans are in place and staff are trained Qualifications
Must Haves: Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel; database management and reporting Strong written and oral communication skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail Customer service orientation and commitment to supporting families and children Ability to work collaboratively in a team; remain calm and solutions-oriented in high-stress situations Commitment to ensuring teachers and students have what they need to be successful Ability to proactively problem solve and anticipate challenges Ability to identify inefficiencies and develop creative solutions Ability to manage multiple projects with ambiguity Willingness to work evenings and weekends Nice-to-Haves: Previous experience directly managing others Experience in a customer service-oriented role Experience in an educational or nonprofit setting Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is $90,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience.
