Job Description American Traveler is seeking a Med/Surg RN with at least 2 years of experience and a current AK RN license to provide care for adult patients in a dynamic acute care environment.
Responsibilities
Position is in the Medical/Surgical unit of a hospital
Primarily caring for adult patients before and after surgical procedures or while managing illness
Unit has 35 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
Uses computerized charting with Meditech EMR system
Typical schedule includes three 12-hour shifts (7:00am–7:30pm or 7:00pm–7:30am) with some on-call night shifts
No floating to other units required
Med/Surg RNs provide care for a diverse adult patient population before/after surgery and during acute illness management
Nurses must be able to manage a rapidly changing and fast-paced environment
Independent patient care, including routine and some emergency care, is expected
All colors of scrubs are permitted except royal blue, forest green, and bright red
Requirements
Active Alaska RN license required
Minimum of 2 years recent Med/Surg or comparable acute care experience
Graduation from an accredited nursing program required
Current BLS for Healthcare Providers or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification required
Demonstrated critical thinking and organizational skills
