Job Description American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN - Operating Room Circulating Nurse with an active AK RN license and a minimum of two years of perioperative experience.
Responsibilities
Work in the Surgical Services/Operating Room department of an acute care hospital
Responsible for perioperative care of pediatric, adolescent, adult, and older adult patients
Circulating nurse role coordinating care with the surgical team
Typical shifts are Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm, three 12-hour shifts from 7am to 7:30pm, or night shift from 7:00pm to 7:30am
On-call night shifts are required
Unit has 20 operating rooms with a 1:1 nurse to patient ratio
Uses computerized charting with Meditech EMR
No floating to other units required
Scrubs are provided by the facility
Provide circulating RN care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation during surgical procedures
Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, pre- and post-operative nurses, and surgical techs
May be required to train other nurses as part of the team
Call is required as part of the scheduling
Scrubs must be worn as provided by the facility
Requirements
Active Alaska RN license
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider or equivalent CPR/AED certification
Current ACLS certification by the American Heart Association
Minimum two years of Operating Room and perioperative nursing experience
Moderate sedation and PACU experience highly preferred
