Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift ICU position in an acute care setting requiring a current CA RN license and strong critical care skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 16-20 bed ICU within an acute hospital setting
Adult and occasional pediatric patient population including MedSurg, neuro, cardiac, trauma (not transferred out), psych, and advanced therapies such as ECMO, Impella, CRRT, balloon pumps, TAVR, and EVAR
Nurse to patient ratios of 1:1 or 1:2
Shifts are 12 hours, nights (7p-7a), with every other weekend required
Floating required to telemetry unit with 4:1 ratio as needed
On-call possible based on census, with a 30-minute response time if called in
Cerner EMR utilized for documentation
Phillips telemetry and Draeger vents in use
IV team and 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy available
Charge nurse available and does not carry a patient assignment
Two shift ICU orientation provided before working independently
Responsible for providing advanced critical care in a collaborative multidisciplinary team environment
Expected to work holidays as scheduled with holiday RTO considered but not guaranteed
Navy scrubs required
Intensivist in house 24 hours, with on-call availability at night
Must be available to cover weekends and float as needed
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
Active CA RN license in hand at time of application (pending not accepted)
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience required
Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
PALS and CCRN certifications preferred
Two professional references: one supervisor reference from the past year and one peer or supervisor reference from within the past 3 years
Copy of driver’s license required for consideration
Must not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year
Ability to pass a dysrhythmia and sterile technique assessment as part of onboarding
