Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU night shift position requiring a CA RN license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) with a mixed medical-surgical ICU setting
16-bed unit with both post-cardiac surgery and general med-surg ICU patients
Typical patient cases include valve replacements, CABG, and AAA repair
12-hour night shifts, 7p-7a, with every other weekend required (Friday-Sunday)
First to float policy applies to travelers
On-call or standby may be required
Uses Cerner charting system
Work closely with a cardiothoracic surgical team including one surgeon and one CTS PA
Three shifts of orientation provided at the start of the assignment
Navy blue scrubs required as dress code
No Medical Assistant or CNA support provided on the unit
Floating to other units required as operationally necessary
Holiday coverage required as scheduled
Returning candidates may not have worked at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
First-time travelers are welcome to apply
Requirements
Active, unencumbered CA RN license required at time of application
Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS, and documented COVID-19 vaccination
Minimum 2 years of recent CVICU experience
Proficiency in immediate post-op cardiac surgery recovery required
IABP, CRRT, and ECMO experience preferred but not required
Successful completion of a proctored CVICU exam and Zoom interview prior to offer
Pass/fail testing on sterile technique for Foley catheter and central line care may be required upon orientation
Two professional references required: one supervisor (within 12 months), one supervisor or peer (within 3 years), must include employment dates and rehire eligibility
Copy of driver's license required for consideration
