Senior Engineer V – Transmission Line Structural Engineering
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer V specializing in Transmission Line Structural Engineering for an 18‑month hybrid contract in Pomona, CA. This role requires advanced expertise in PLS Tower, lattice tower structural design, and load calculations under NESC, GO95, and ASCE standards.
This is a hybrid position with on‑site work required every Wednesday and Thursday.
Key Responsibilities
Lead structural engineering for lattice towers (structure + foundation) across major transmission projects.
Perform advanced PLS Tower modeling, analysis, and design reviews.
Complete load calculations using NESC, California GO95, and ASCE standards.
Design and review foundations including drilled shafts, direct embed, micro piles, and grillage structures.
Utilize FAD Tools, hand calculations, and related software for foundation assessments.
Lead new project development activities, including research, data collection, and structural evaluations.
Prepare engineering recommendations and system improvement proposals.
Ensure all engineering work follows SCE standards and regulatory requirements.
Construction Support & Emergency Response
Support field and construction teams by resolving structural and design issues.
Participate in storm, wildfire, and emergency restoration efforts when required.
Perform field inspections of existing structures and foundations.
Reporting, Documentation & QA/QC
Prepare engineering reports and mitigation plans for damaged towers or footings.
Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, safety policies, and SCE QA/QC processes.
Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the transmission engineering team.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with construction, operations, and engineering partners.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
California Civil PE license required (Structural PE preferred).
Minimum 7+ years of transmission line engineering experience.
Expertise with: PLS Tower (required), PLS‑CADD, FAD Tools.
Strong understanding of GO95, NESC, and ASCE standards.
Proven experience performing transmission line load calculations.
