Role Overview We’re looking for a highly experienced
Senior Engineer V
to lead complex transmission line structural engineering projects, with a strong focus on
lattice tower design, analysis, and load calculations . This role blends technical leadership, hands‑on engineering, and mentorship — ideal for someone who knows transmission engineering inside and out and isn’t afraid to own the work.
You’ll drive engineering solutions from concept through construction support, influence best practices, and support critical infrastructure projects across challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
Lead transmission line structural engineering efforts for
lattice tower structures and foundations
on complex projects.
Serve as a
technical subject matter expert
in PLS Tower modeling and analysis for new and existing structures, in compliance with
ASCE, SCE, and applicable standards .
Design and review transmission line foundations including
drilled shafts, direct embed, micropiles, and grillages
using FAD Tools, hand calculations, or equivalent methods.
Perform structural
load calculations
in accordance with
NESC, California General Order 95, and other applicable codes .
Provide construction administration support, coordinating with field teams to resolve design issues and support emergency restoration efforts (storms, wildfires, and other incidents).
Prepare engineering mitigation and assessment reports for damaged lattice towers and foundations.
Mentor and guide junior engineers, contributing to the development of the transmission engineering practice.
Collaborate cross-functionally to build strong working relationships across engineering, construction, and operations teams.
Ensure adherence to
QA/QC standards , safety policies, and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications Top Must-Have Experience
PLS Tower
Lattice tower engineering
Transmission line load calculations
Additional Requirements
California Civil PE License required
(Structural preferred)
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in
Civil (Structural) Engineering
7+ years of experience
in transmission line engineering
Strong proficiency with
PLS Tower (PLS-CADD)
and
FAD Tools
Deep knowledge of transmission line codes, standards, and best practices
Work Environment
Hybrid schedule with
at least two onsite days per week
