Mantell Associates is partnered with a dynamic and fast-growing preclinical CRO, seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join its commercial team.
This role offers the opportunity to build strong client partnerships, drive revenue growth, and expand the company’s footprint across pharmaceutical, biotech, and life sciences markets.
Business Development Manager - Responsibilities
Develop and execute territory-based commercial strategies to grow preclinical services and solutions with prospective and existing clients Identify, qualify, and engage new business opportunities, translating scientific service offerings into value-based solutions for client needs Build and nurture strong relationships with key stakeholders across pharmaceutical, biotech, and academic sectors on behalf of the CRO Lead proposal development, pricing discussions, contract negotiation, and deal closure in collaboration with internal scientific, legal, and finance teams Collaborate with internal partners - including Scientific Affairs, Operations, Project Management, and Marketing - to ensure proposals and service delivery align with client expectations Represent the company at industry conferences, tradeshows, and networking events to generate leads, enhance brand visibility, and advance the organization’s commercial presence Maintain accurate CRM records, track sales activity, manage pipeline forecasting, and prepare regular business development reports for leadership Business Development Manager - Requirements
5+ years of business development, sales, or strategic account management experience in a preclinical CRO, pharmaceutical, or biotech services environment Proven experience engaging with and securing business from biotech and pharmaceutical clients in the U.S. market Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of preclinical study design and CRO service portfolios (e.g., in vivo models, safety pharmacology, toxicology, bioanalysis) Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills - capable of influencing at senior client and cross-functional internal levels Self-motivated, results-oriented with ability to manage complex opportunities and deliver results in a competitive market Proficiency with CRM and sales forecasting tools; strong analytical and organizational skills Legally authorized to work in the U.S., and willing to travel regionally as required Key Details
