Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Oncology unit requiring pediatric acute care experience, BLS, PALS, and APHON chemo/biotherapy certification.
Responsibilities
Position is in a hospital pediatric oncology unit with all IMC beds
Patient population includes oncology patients from newborn through 25 years
Unit features 20 beds specializing in hematology, oncology, and bone marrow transplant
Handles diagnoses such as solid tumors, leukemia, blood/bone marrow transplants, and provides infusion/chemotherapy/biotherapy therapy
Care for general medical-surgical patients may occur when other units are full
Uses Epic, Epic Ambulatory, and Beacon for EMR documentation
Night shift, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
Every other weekend required
No on-call duties for travelers
Responsibilities include providing complex care to pediatric oncology and bone marrow transplant patients and participating in clinical trials
Unit participates in cancer clinical trials and provides oncology acute care
Participation in orientation sessions as scheduled
Holiday coverage required as needed by the unit
Scrub attire details will be provided during orientation
First time travelers are welcome to apply
Local candidates are accepted at the same rate, except where excluded by specific facility rules
Requirements
Active MD or compact RN license required
BLS and PALS certifications required
APHON chemo/biotherapy provider course or certificate required
At least 2 years of pediatric acute care experience (IMC/PICU required)
Experience in a facility with at least 500 beds required
Epic EMR experience preferred
Travel experience is preferred
