Director of Engineering (H/F) - NORTHWEST AEROSPACE TECHNOLOGIES, INC.
This is a technical leadership role. The Director of Engineering is responsible for the day‑to‑day execution of engineering projects and deliverables, including schedules, budgets, and technical content. The role ensures that appropriate quality standards and regulatory requirements are met throughout the design, development, substantiation, installation, and support phases of all engineering projects. The Director also develops organizational structure, manages the Engineering Managers and Project Engineers, collaborates with other departments, and reports monthly department KPIs.
Responsibilities
Execute engineering projects and deliverables, including schedules and budgets.
Ensure engineering deliverables meet NAT quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Maintain a skilled, productive, and motivated workforce.
Develop and maintain organizational structure and personnel to support engineering.
Create Statements of Work (SOW) for all ongoing and forecasted engineering projects.
Communicate company vision and corporate objectives.
Supply resources to support business development (technical proposals, kit lists, engineering estimates, etc.).
Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.
Develop, implement, and maintain department processes and procedures.
Manage Engineering Managers and Project Engineers.
Promote health, safety, and environmental legal and regulatory requirements.
Lead by example to enforce a strong safety culture and compliance‑driven practices.
Develop, manage, and report monthly department KPIs.
Maintain all department tools (hardware, software, company‑specific applications).
Onboard and train personnel as required to improve or maintain skill base.
Obtain required tools and equipment for the department.
Qualifications
Four (4) year technical degree in an appropriate engineering field and proven experience leading teams.
Additional training in leadership, management, business administration, program management, and risk management is preferred.
Fifteen or more years of broad technical experience, with at least ten years in the aerospace industry.
Travel will be required periodically to domestic and international locations for customer meetings, design reviews, and marketing campaigns.
Deep practical engineering knowledge.
Strong leader and team builder.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Technical coach capable of inspiring and empowering employees.
Dedication to customer satisfaction.
Ability to execute a quality product in a schedule‑driven environment.
High integrity and trustworthiness.
Physical Requirements Occasional lifting of up to 35 pounds.
